Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

Went from work on the west side to Fort Saskatchewan to visit my parents, then rode back to the south side. Love the late season - though last year I had my last ride on Nov.30!

Sigh... Well, the white stuff has landed for the 2nd time, and I fear its here to stay. Do you guys have ambitious plans to do anything special to your bikes over the winter?

Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

Yep, the street infront of my garage is all snow and ice - so I can't even get out onto the main roads which are 90% clear and dry. Oh well, maybe over the next week the snow may gradually go away, but I won't hold my breath.

Mainly just some cosmetic stuff like a fender eliminator, finishing the lighting/signals. I'm saving for a power commander for the 1K, as it definitely runs on the lean side with the RS3's and airbox/throttlebody mods I've done. Baffles back in the cans proves it as the smooth drivability comes back but does feel more choked up on the high end of the rev range. A custom airfilter using the stuff from the AEM dryflow filters is something I'd like to do as well.

Next year I really want to take the race school out at Stratotech in May. I ended up missing it due to a brutal ankle injury that really didn't feel right until the end of June. To that end I'm not 100% sure my 4500 km old BT-021's would stand up to two days of track time even though I have no delusions of race pace. I just want to be safe on the track and if I knew they could take it then I'd feel like I had a chance to know the tires better. Maybe somebodies take-offs would be better?

Off-season brings always means too much time thinking about how I'd love for my current SV1K to be my sporty street & touring bike, and then how I'd like either another 1K or a 650 for mainly track days (no budget for a true dabble into racing though).

Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

Hey Guys,
I'm a fairly new arrival to Edmonton SV'ing. Bought a lightly used K8 at the end of April. Looking forward to meeting (and re-meeting) some of the local SV community this season.

Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

Welcome to SV ownership! There's a few of us in Edmonton who've met. There's definitely enough of us that we really should have a meet 'n ride soon

Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

im in, as long as where we are meeting is the track, and that all riding is also done exclusively on the track lol

and how did you kill a 1000 with 13k on it?

Re: Edmonton SVRiders - this Monday

Oh, it's the 650 that's gone (thanks, 17 year old SUV driver!).

That said, I've got my heart set on at least a few (more than two) Monday track nights this summer!

I think I'm going to take in the Vicious Cycle track attack on June 18, then watch the racing on the 20th
