Re: wheelie

how about the reverse question:

if you are moving on the road and give it wide open throttle without shifting your weight around (standard sitting position), what gears should avoid a wheelie for a 200 lbs 6' man?

I haven't gone WOT in anything but 5th and 6th because I want to avoid lifting the front wheels.

I'm 130 lbs, and I've had it WOT in every gear. Sitting normally, the front may have been 1" off the ground MAX in first, and never left the ground in second.

The only way I could actually get it to do a wheelie higher than 1" was to get on the power (not quite WOT) and then close it completely for a split second (to compress forks) then get on power again. Forks would spring the front end up and it would go a little higher.

You're fine.

Re: wheelie

sweet.

I did notice that shifting at 9000+ rpm makes the bike jerk a bit. not sure if i'm being too abrupt with the clutch (I'm going in and out, not slipping it) or if that's just how it is. The jerking motion almost feels like a side to side wobble for a moment. Maybe I'm pushing the handlebars slightly. I haven't gotten on it enough times to be able to accurately describe it or know what exactly i'm doing to cause it.

You took me literally ... I meant our own personal urban legend.

There is another one in here somewhere where zoran posted a bunch of pictures of crankshaft failure and finding gold bits of metal in your oil.

What is hilarious and sad is the people that come here to prove the wheelie myth wrong and they show up under another name several months or a year later parting out their bike.

Stick around, nice parts to be had at times!

I've had it power wheelie in 1st, 2nd easily and I weigh about the same.

Re: wheelie

But you have a first gen, and those are magical, like candy mountain.

I had a boring ol', power-lacking, pointy-looking second gen, haha.

Dude, just go to the School for People Who Can't Wheelie Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Things Good Too. They'll fix you right up.
