Re: WHY can't i post/start new threads!!!
Read the headers of each forum please. The Open forum and the "Everything else" section of the for sale boards are the only ones restricted to paid members.
The For Sale sub forums are restricted to those who have over 25 posts and over two weeks on the board. Is it fair to restrict it like that? Not really, but it is the best weapon we have currently to prevent spammers and derelicts from dumping crap on the long time members and bailing before the package arrives at the sellers, never to be seen again. By the way, the time restriction is waived if a full membership is purchased. The logic being, if someone dumps $15 or more dollars into supporting the site, it's unlikely they're going to bail after selling a mirror or seat. And nobody except a Mod can start a thread in the main For sale section. We move threads there when it is appropriate, such as a deadbeat seller is complained about and the claim is substantiated. Use the appropriate sub-forum, Bikes, Parts, Gear, Wanted, Everything else. A frequent problem when people complain they can't post in the For Sale sub forums when they hit 25 posts a few minutes or hours earlier. Try logging out (actually click the "Log out" button, don't just shut down the browser.) Wait a few minutes and then log back in. This forces the database to update your status. Otherwise, you're waiting for the next cycle of the database to catch up. Which is usually not long, but much longer than most people who have been trying to sell something are willing to wait. Again, read the header at the top of each board. If there is a restriction on posting there, it will be spelled out in the header. They're there for your information, and it's not like they're as long as software license agreements, or as boring as a political debate. |

![]() ![]() Other than the minimum membership demands, there are no secret handshakes. 25 substantive posts ~ we will delete postwhoring just to get to the marketplace forums. 14 days membership. (some debate to give these miscreants negative post counts.) Or pay to become a subscribing member - if you do this, you will get our full attention and help. Those that won't do this are whiners and delegated to whambulances. ![]()
