Hey guys I need some help. I recently got an 07 Sv650 from a guy thru trade. His wife tipped it over and messed up the shift shaft. So I fixed said shifting problem and I took it out on the back roads to test the tranny.

I was doing an agressive stop when in the middle of it the engine quit and the Red FI light came on as well as FI appeared where the temp should have been displayed. I stopped, shut off the ignition and turned it back on. Same FI fault. I shut it off again, let it sit for about 20 sec and when I turned it back on no FI fault. She started right up and I rode home. It ran just fine before and after. :cussing::BangHead:

What could cause something like this? I wasn't low fuel because I gased up at home and had at LEAST half a tank before I left. If it happened at home I could have put it in dealer mode to read the fault code but I was on the road.

Any Ideas what it could be???

So here's the deal. I just purchased a 2003 cooper SV650S with 1,900miles on it for $3,300. Practically a steal. This guy never rode the bike and kept it in his garage all day every day for the past 7 years.

My question is what do I need to replace or change or check up on?

Everything on the bike, including fluids, all look clean and NEW. (His last oil change was at 1,000 something miles. He has done two oil changes throughout the bikes life. Anyways is there anything I should replace? oil, tires, coolant fluid, brake fluid?

Anyone have a pic? Is it the filter I keep reading about or is it the air filter housing (box).

I have cleaned the carbs, upgraded the jets, shims, sync the carbs, K&N air filter, shimmed gas tank and really have not noticed anything EXCEPT a much smoother, faster throttle response and as I keep reading about this "desnorkel" idea, makes me wonder if I should give it a try, especially having a K&N.
I was NOT expecting tremendous horsepower gains so if all I got was the smoother, faster throttle response, so be it.
This "desnorkle" thing I really want to know about!

Oh, and my "old" one is for sale, if anyone wants it. 36" Sony WEGA. $200 and it's yours.

But onto the new TV.

Just browsing through BestBuy's site (won't necessarily buy from there), it looks like Plasma might be what I want to lean towards, as I mainly only use my TV for video games, and movies. I watch a little TV, but not much.

I'd like to keep the price under $700.

I'm looking for a screen between 32" and 46". Most likely around 42".

Also, I believe I want 1080p VR, and 120Hz refresh rate. A couple of my friends have bought TV's with only 60Hz, and TV shows almost look "choppy" in HD. It's annoying. I think the 60Hz is what causes this. But I don't know. Feel free to correct me.

Anyway, have at it. I'm not brand picky, outside of anything APEX. Seems like everything they make is utter sh-t. Not sure if they make TV's though. But other than that, I don't need the TV to be SONY or anything.

Sorry if this is a repost.. but this had me wondering if anyone has looked at one of these Yamaha FZ8s new for 2011 in person yet?

Looks kinda like Bking+Gladius+FZ all in one...

Now when are they going to make a 750 or 800cc SV at Suzuki??

As per CycleWorld

New FZ8 promises midrange punch from its liquid-cooled 779cc engine (based on the previous-gen YZF-R1 motor). High-quality components and a stiff frame are aimed at sportbike-like handling.

FZ8
Finding the middle of the road is a re-occurring theme in this issue (Ducati 848 EVO, KTM 350 SX-F). Not to be left out, the FZ8 slots between Yamaha's liter-class FZ1 and 600cc FZ6R. Engine architecture is similar to that of the pre-crossplane-crank YZF-R1 and, in fact, uses that bike's engine cases. To achieve its 779cc displacement, a new crankshaft, fracture-split connecting rods and 68mm pistons work in a 53.6mm stroke.

A cast aluminum frame and Control Fill Die Cast aluminum swingarm are mated to a 43mm inverted fork and preload-adjustable shock, while four-piston monoblock calipers pinching 310mm discs handle braking duties.

Yamaha claims that the FZ8 combines quick, nimble handling and torquey power delivery with a comfortably upright riding position. This sleek, naked package will go on sale in December for $8490. Hope you like Raven Black, because that is your only color choice.

Got rear ended a while ago. I've been wondering what it takes for it to be deemed a total loss?

From a few feet away you can't even tell it was ever in an accident. It looks better than many of the bikes people still fix up and ride after a crash. Get in closer though and you see the scratches on the landing side, bent exhaust pipe. Defomed / broken controls. The rear wheel took a direct hit too and while it was able to roll on and off the flatbed and into my driveway, and has no visible damage, is it possible for the axle / swingarm to have bent? The low KBB retail value obviously has the insurance co. looking at totaling it already even before inspection, I'm sure.

Just wondering how much (or how little) damage it takes for a bike to be a total loss?

When I first got this bike ('02 SVS), everything was so out of whack that I tore it all down and re-jetted per this site's recommendations. Basic rundown of air/fuel system...BMC Race filter on desnorkled air box, A/F screws at 2.5 turns out, coupled with a Scorpion slip-on. My original re-jet finalized with 17.5 pilots and 150 mains...and I was dang close. Felt just a hair lean at about 6,500-7,000 RPM (stutter, stutter, PULL). My thinking was to fatten the mains another step or two. So I did, and I went with 155 mains (I hope the "small round" "large round" doesn't make a difference and is just the head size). I double checked my A/F screw settings, and put it all back together. To my dismay, it feels as though I've lost even more power at a slightly broader RPM range...to the point that in 4th gear it feels like it may never trudge through the sluggish spot. Any tips/ideas...I'm thinking something to do with needles, but have very little knowledge in what effects are linked to which components. Any suggestions welcome, and as always, thanks for your support.
