jbswear 01-27-2009, 07:28 PM I know Tivid does welding. Does anybody else here? I need a simple thing done...
The bracket that holds the headlamp on the bike--it attaches to the fork legs--is about 7.5" from top to bottom. The gap between the GSX-R front end is about 7" between the triples. I need to cut out a small section and weld them back together.
It doesn't have to be pretty, just strong. I have an air grinder and can clean up any rough spots, and it'll be painted when done.
I'll gladly bring the part to you.
Any takers?
Roadkill33 01-28-2009, 01:01 PM I dont know anyone personally, but will ask around and keep my ears out for someone.
If you dont get any takers, Patchetts Welding is just north of Crofton on Route 3. It is on the left as you are going north in the median (where all of those shops and car repair places are) and just south of Honda of Crofton. It is real mom & pop and I am sure they could help you out and it shouldnt be too much $$. You would probably have to go during working hours though.
I pass the shop everyday to and from work. If you want to bring the parts over and explain it to me, I can bring it by and pick it up afterwards if you cant find the time. Just throwin it out there.
Give them a call 410-98-1400
Chris
jbswear 01-28-2009, 01:21 PM Cool. Thanks, Chris.
r3t1awr3yd 01-28-2009, 02:25 PM Welding is for losers!
OR
You should just buy a welder and learn man. I know when I get a house and a garage, you better believe I'm going to invest in a welder. :)
jbswear 01-28-2009, 04:53 PM Yeah, but the land lord is already p!ssy about the tools that I have. Ordered that I get rid of all the power tools, so they're all up in the attic now. The only thing that's down is the air compressor.
He'd sh!t himself if he knew I had a welder. Ask J-Dog.
LSCYCLING 01-28-2009, 05:22 PM just get some strapping and do what I did. You don't need no stinking welding.
jbswear 01-28-2009, 05:49 PM Yeah, I may have to do that.
WTH are you doing in our forums? You're on the LEFT coast...
;)
Iakayak81 01-28-2009, 05:54 PM welders are pretty small, I'm sure the LL wouldn't notice

My lathe and grinder are tiny, too.

It goes with the rest of you! bah dum dum! Good night. Tip your waitress.
badguy 01-29-2009, 08:19 AM Won't let you have power tools? What the hell is a garage for??
I have access to a welder at work (my stick welder at home would probably blow right through it) and I had our machinist weld up mine. He showed me how to use it as well, so I could probably come in here on the weekend and do it. It won't be pretty but I can get it done. Or if you're willing to wait, he can probably do it when things slow down in a week or two.
Walka 01-29-2009, 11:48 AM yo, we can do welding at my house, i dunno if we have any extra rods laying around.
we had a mig sitting around for a while but my friend took it back, i need something welded too though so this would be a good chance to borrow it again lol. reguardless i could probly get nick to do it for you. you just need .5" taken out of the middle is what you are saying?
Walka 01-29-2009, 12:39 PM i was just told its probly to thin for the welder we have here, so when my friend signs on ill see if i can borrow that again
