how to check timing and valves

hey guys
ive done this many times on cars, but i dont know the references on the SV im having problems starting my bike and wanted to check these just to have a piece of mind.
Unfortunately i cant download the manual either, so if any of you guys could do me a giant favor and email it to

Please describe your problem with starting the bike. On the first gen, more than likely it'll be carbs (gummed up with old gas or a dead battery). The timing on our bikes doesn't "go out" like it does on some of the older cars.

I don't have the manual downloaded as I have a paper copy of it. Sorry.

But we'll try and help you out.
