???

Ok. I tried searching the forums and the web. this sounds like a really stupid question but...

How hard is it to remove bar ends? Also, what do you have to do?

I only ask because most of the posts I see are just "remove bar ends, then..." so it seems like a really easy thing to do. But then i ran across this article (about halfway down the page, where they talk abour removing the bar end): http://www.bluepoof.com/motorcycles/howto/svs_clipons/. And the article said that they had a horrible time removing the bar end. They ended up removing the screw head, removing the barend, then using a big a$$ wrench to remove the screw.

Just wondering if they just had a weird case. Also, i read somewhere that you arent supposed to remove the screw all the way since there is a rubber thing with the nut inside. If so, what are you supposed to do?

I have a 2008, by the way. brand new.

well, what i've found, loosen the screw a couple turns then, with the screwdriver on the screw head, give it pop with your hand as that should break loose the rubber on the inside of the bar, kinda wiggle it, loosen the screw most of the way, it should come out...

As long as you don't back the screw all the way out, then yes, it all comes out together. If you do accidentally back out the screw too far and it comes out of the rubber bit (as I did recently), you can just stick the screw back in (being careful not to shove the rubber bit further down into the handlebar), screw it in a few turns, and then pull it all out.
