Fill up the gas tank and put fuel stabil in it. Some people like to fill their crank case so that its all filled with oil.

Guys with Carbs can fog their carbs so that they are all coated and do no rust.

if you can get the wheels off the ground its suggest so they do not develop flat spots.

You don't need to lift your wheels off the ground. If they do develop flat spots, radial tires today will go back into shape in like 50 miles or less.

You should stuff rags in your exhaust and intake so nothing crawls in there.

You can put your battery on a tender/maintainer

+1 on FULL gas tank with stabil, if you have carbs turn your fuel off and run them dry

Put a sheet or cover over it if you're meticulous about your paint.

Fill your oil up to the top and drain it next spring ...

Per Suzuki manual.

can't hurt, I've never had tires dry rot from a single winter though.

So I am putting together a simple list of things for the motorcycle association at work (military thing) on winterizing your bike since not all of them ride year round. Of course I came to SVR to get the gouge and ensure I didn't miss anything, but I have never heard of this.

Guys with Carbs can fog their carbs so that they are all coated and do no rust.

Can someone please explain it to me and if there is something that needs to be purchased please include that as well.

I've known a lot of people that own race/antique cars that sit for long periods. The best thing you can do is fire up the bike and let it run for a bit, every week. The main benefit is keeping a coating of oil in the engine. I suppose that only works if the bike is readily available and not in storage elsewhere.

General opinion is that if you aren't out riding it, just letting it run for a bit does nothing except add condensation to all of your internal bits.

+1 to Stabil in a full tank of gas. After you put Stabil in your full tank of fuel, be sure and run the bike for a few minutes to circulate the Stabilized fuel through the system.

Disconnect battery or hook it up to battery tender w/float so it doesn't overcharge the battery.

Put the bike up on stands, front and rear. Use a dust cover to keep it clean.

Me, I don't put my bike up during the winter. I wear polar fleece under my gear and ride! I add Stabil to the fuel during the winter in case it's a few weeks between rides.
