2003 Gel Seat Review?

How does this seat fare?

The stock seat kills my nads.

I think it's too narrow near the tank, and that's why.

A lot of people are suggesting that a Sargent seat would be great as it's flatter and wider.....However, it's also the most expensive seat for the SV.

I ride a 2003 SV1000S but the seats should be the same.

Here's a link: http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/parts-accessories/gel-seat-front-only-sv650s1000s-2003-06.html

Any input?

Its definitely better. Different shape than stocker, more rounded edges. Keep it covered in the sun while parked, it will burn your ass and keep burning, as it holds heat for a while. I've ridden a 200 mile day and it felt good. I've never ridden on a Sargent. I have sat on an sv with one. Its a completely different feel all together. Its harder, but a much different shape, you sit down into the bike.

The Gel seat is ALOT better than the stock seat. It is a little taller than stock though. I used to use the stock seat with a portion replaced with memory foam, but it was still nowhere near the comfort of the Gel seat. It does get a bit hot in the sun.

However, that being said, I bought my '03 with the Gel seat, and seeing as I'm only 5'3" I just ordered my Sargent seat to replace it. Will let you know if it is worth the $300 I spent on it.

I just purchased the Suzuki Gel seat for my 2008 sv650 naked. Install was a snap. The install instructions said it would fit the SV1000 too with some cutting with scissors.

I've only had about 15 miles on it, but I can tell two things. The seat feels more stiff. At first I thought this wasn't going to be good, but my ass and nuts didn't hurt when I parked so it's definitely better. 2nd, it looks great, i wish there was a matching rear seat. The "SV" on the side of the seat looks really nice.

Considering the other options for replacement seats are hundreds of dollars more, this is a great inexpensive upgrade...I'm not sure why they didn't make this seat stock.

I like the lines of the stocker better, but I commute and this seat is more comfortable. It is wider (sounds like wider right where you need it). Like has already been said, it does get hot, and the SV on the side looks really nice.

I've done 500 mile days with the gel seat and was pretty comfortable while a 100 mile day with the stock seat was torture.
