When I bought my SV, the guy included a small Cortech tank bag (non-magnetic...it's the strap type) with it. I'm not exactly sure how to attach it to the bike. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Exact mounting depends on which generation bike you have and how the straps are set up on the bag. First, look on the bottom of the tank bag and you will notice some clip type buckles. Somewhere in the stuff the seller gave you with the bag, you should find some straps and buckles that match up to the buckles on the bag. The straps may have loops sewn in to one end, or non clip buckles with just two slots for the strap webbing. Most bags have three of the clip type mounting buckles. If yours has three, the end with two buckles is the forward end of the bag. To mount the bag, raise the front of the gas tank and prop it up using the rod stored under the passenger seat of the bike (instructions are in the owner's manual). Once the front of the tank is raised, loop two of the straps around the upper frame rails so that when you put buckles on them the buckles will line up (more or less, it doesn't have to be exact) with the matching buckles on the bag. In order to raise the tank, you will have had to remove the front seat, so after the front straps are looped around the frame, lower the tank, but leave the front seat off for the next step. Now you will need to install the rear strap. Older SV's have a hinge at the bottom rear of the tank while newer bikes have a square plate bolted to the tank. Take some strong cord and loop it under the hinge or plate (whichever is on your bike), take the last strap, and if see if it has a loop sewn into one end. If it doesn't, sew a loop into it. Run the cord through the loop in the strap and tie the ends of the cord together. The last clip type buckle goes on the ind of this strap. Re-install the front seat, place the tank bag on the center of the gas tank, clip the strap buckles to the bag buckles and adjust the straps to hold the bag tight to the tank.

Hope this helps,
Bob
