I've never heard of greened but getting cams cut has been a common mod since the dawn of engines. There is always the possibility that the place doing it won't harden the lobe properly and it will wear fast but that depends on the people doing it.

there are few places that regrind cams but it is not cheap.cheapest you can do is put 99-02 intakes on exhaust side and leave your intakes alone.
if you want more than that you should also change valve springs.megacycle made high lift cams that are good.
you can find used ones if you look around.with high lift you also want adjustable sprocket.as you see high lift cams are not cheap because you have to change other parts with it.
I may have some if you want to go this direction.

Pm'd you.

I'm looking at about 250 CDN$ to get mine re-profiled and installed, which doesn't sound too bad. The guy has an excellent reputation, he's been building race engines for decades, so I don't doubt his skill. The cams are both from a first gen (along with the rest of the heads and cylinders) but I have my stock K4 cams lying around so I could switch the cams around, if it makes any difference.

I don't know, we just discussed the cost and the process, he hasn't done an SV motor yet so he won't know until he looks at it. I know that sounds bad, but he's the best guy on the East Coast (of Canada) for engine work.

Do you have a suggestion? We're talking about a street-use motor so nothing too extreme.

even tough all motors work about same sv's are not same as inline 4's.if you build them as inline 4 it will blow up.
this is reason so many have blown around here, they were built by engine builders that did not work on one before.
we have blown few long time ago while learning about this engines.
my suggestion was couple treads up,put 99-02 intake on exhaust and call it good.

Yeah, I agree. Free and safe, sounds good. :) Thanks for the input!

I never heard of "greened" cams either, don't spose he means "degreed" cams ?

Could be, but it sure sounded like greened to me.
