hi, new guy here. i am a novice racer with willow springs motorcycle club out here in CA. i bought a 00ish race prepped sv this summer. it came with a spare motor, frame, swingarm, and a box of spares, including sprokets, battery, rearsets, carbs...etc.

this week i bought a spare set of wheels to have as practice/race swappers. so now i have all these extra parts lying around and i start thinking (dangerous) "gee, i almost have another bike here. 'nother $800-1000 and i could peice together a spare bike". here's my list of needs. please add to it or correct as you ca.

forks- sv, gixxer? if gixxer, what year model?
front and rear brakes
shock- penske?(that's what i've got on my bike now) or maybe just a gixxer or 636 revalve?
clip ons
levers (pretty sure i have these already actually)
tank
seat
subframe
wiring harness
chain
fairings/windscreen
tach/temp

****! you type it out and the short list in your head looks a LOT more involved :p

master cylinders (front and rear), and don't forget all the nuts and bolts to throw it all together.

I have stock sv forks, subframe, slightly modified exhaust, airbox, and front calipers if you are interested.

oh, i have the triples and axle for the forks, a sharkskinz fairing stay, gas cap for tank w/ key, and a wiring harness with all wires you don't need.* *;D

or you can just sell me the motor and frame for $850 and i'll haul that stuff away for you.

You're new to racing? Save your money for track days and all the other unexpected expenses that pop up during the season. You need to work on steady improvements on one bike before throwing another into the mix, imo.

Hell, plan on coming out to one of the AFM race dates at Buttonwillow. Count yourself as lucky for having so many spares and leave it at that. ;)

Seth... you could go crazy dropping cash in to that bike. Bottom line is at the novice level, 90% of what you listed doesn't matter. What does matter is skill. I would get a good suspension and save the rest for track time. On an SV, you won't need race/practice tires. I can get about 3-4 weekends out of a set. What you do need is...

extra clip-ons
levers
foot controls
